Aspheric lens manufacturing for demanding optical systems

Custom aspheric lenses reduce spherical aberration, simplify optical layouts and help improve compact imaging or illumination systems. Junbang supports customers from drawing review and material selection through prototype manufacturing, coating and final inspection.

Typical projects include molded-layout replacements, high precision machined aspheres, infrared aspheric lenses and custom curved components where surface form, surface roughness and coating performance must be controlled together.

For quotation, send drawings, material, diameter, center thickness, clear aperture, surface figure, surface quality, coating wavelength range, angle of incidence and inspection report requirements.

Typical applications

  • Thermal imaging and SWIR/MWIR/LWIR camera modules
  • Laser collimation, beam shaping and focusing assemblies
  • Hyperspectral imaging and spectroscopy instruments
  • Machine vision and scientific optical systems

RFQ information we recommend sending

Please include drawings, material, dimensions, quantity, wavelength range, coating requirements, angle of incidence, surface figure, surface quality, roughness, environmental requirements and inspection report needs. This helps us review manufacturability and quote faster.

Manufacturing Capability

Aspheric processing capability and reference precision

Aspheric manufacturing capability is evaluated across surface form, surface roughness, aperture, material and inspection method rather than by a single number. Depending on the substrate and geometry, the process route may combine ultra-precision turning or grinding with deterministic polishing such as MRF or IBF.

Reference precision levels for custom aspheric optics
Processing level Reference surface form Reference roughness Typical applications
Precision PV 0.3–1.0 µm Ra 10–30 nm Illumination and general industrial optics
Ultra-precision PV 0.1–0.3 µm Ra 1–10 nm Infrared imaging, laser beam shaping and precision instruments
High-precision deterministic polishing RMS 5–10 nm Ra approximately 0.5–2 nm High-performance imaging, scientific research and laser systems
Extreme-precision custom processing RMS ≤5 nm Sub-nanometre roughness available Aerospace optics, advanced research and high-end metrology systems

Technical note: PV and RMS are different surface-form metrics and should not be compared directly. The values above are typical capability references, not universal acceptance limits. Achievable specifications depend on material, clear aperture, aspheric departure, surface geometry and the agreed inspection method. Guaranteed values are confirmed after drawing review.
